“"From Vila-real, we know that culture is much more than entertainment; it is work and, as such, deserves dignity for the profession and for all those who make it possible. That is why we are very happy to be this welcoming place for the debate on labor rights, a space to listen and also to move forward."

The city of Vila-real will host the 13th Professional Conferences of the International Street Theater and Arts Festival (FITCarrer), which will focus on the debate about working conditions and the recognition of professionals in the cultural sector.
These conferences, part of the 38th edition of FITCarrer, will transform the city into an open space for dialogue among artists and professionals from various disciplines such as theater, music, cultural management, and artistic distribution. The main objective is to generate a real dialogue space that allows the sector's needs to be conveyed to institutions and to advance towards a stronger, more participatory cultural model.
The Councillor for Culture and Deputy Mayor, Maria Fajardo, highlighted that the conferences will feature the participation of a representative from the Ministry of Culture. This representative will explain the latest modifications to the Artist's Statute, recently carried out by the Ministries of Culture and Labor, a historical demand from the sector to address rights, recognition, and dignified working conditions.
The meeting will take place on Friday, May 1, starting at 11:30 AM at the Teatre Tagoba, coinciding with International Workers' Day. The festival's programmer, Sara Recatalà, emphasized the importance of this space for taking a snapshot of the current state of the sector and being at the forefront of the changes taking place.
Representing the Ministry, Txema Urquijo, advisor and a key figure in the development of the Artist's Statute, will participate as a direct interlocutor with the sector and will answer questions on site. The conference will also feature professionals from different fields, such as musician and producer Vicent Colonques, cultural manager and visual artist Concha Ros, and scenic producer and distributor Nacho Vilar. The session will be moderated by Diana Bernal, president of the State Professional Association of Street Arts (PATEA).
