Vila-real is preparing for a historic day in the world of fighting video games with the celebration of Versus Royal 2026, an official tournament of the European 2XKO EU Community Series circuit, taking place on April 11 at the Teatre Tagoba.

This event, which places the city on the eSports map, has generated significant interest and has already surpassed 50 registered participants, coming from various parts of Spain, as highlighted by Daniel Segarra, one of the organizers.
The event is part of the first season of the 2XKO EU Community Series, an initiative driven by Riot Games to strengthen the competitive scene at a European level. The Vila-real tournament is part of the Community Locals category, in-person competitions designed as the foundation of the competitive ecosystem, where players can start accumulating points in the official European ranking and project their careers towards higher-level stages.
Organized by the Vila-real Municipal Sports Service in collaboration with the company Teseo y el Minotauro, Versus Royal 2026 will bring together some of the best emerging talents around 2XKO, the new 2v2 team fighting game set in the universe of League of Legends and Arcane. This title has strongly entered the eSports scene thanks to its combination of frenetic action and strategic depth.
In addition to the main tournament, the event will feature a second competition focused on Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, the latest installment of the historic fighting saga, returning after more than two decades. This mode, based on individual combat, will provide contrast and diversity to the event, broadening its appeal to both players and fans.

"It is a source of pride that Vila-real can also become a benchmark in the field of eSports."

Xus Madrigal · Councillor for Sports
One of the major attractions of the event will be its reward system, as the Vila-real tournament offers one of the most significant prizes in this type of competition. Winners will receive a trip to France to participate in EVO Europe, considered the most important tournament on the continent in this field. Furthermore, the competition will allow players to accumulate key points in the European ranking, the culmination of which opens the door to representing the region at EVO Las Vegas 2026, the largest global fighting game event.
