The city of Burriana has been filled with color and creativity for the May Crosses festival, one of the most unique celebrations in the local calendar. After the jury's visit to the 19 fallas commissions, the Barri l'Escorredor falla was proclaimed the winner in the adult category, while the Barri La Bosca achieved the highest recognition in the children's category.
The central event of the day took place at the Llar Fallera, where the awards were presented. The fallas queens, Laura Sendra and Ana Olivas, along with the mayor of Burriana, Jorge Monferrer, and the Councilor for Fallas, Paloma Boix, were responsible for handing out the banners to the fallas commissions.
The l’Escorredor commission captivated the jury with a spectacular oriental-inspired composition, featuring a large dragon, Japanese cherry trees, a gong, and a traditional bridge. The meticulous ambiance and ornamental richness made this cross one of the most outstanding of the edition.
In the children's category, La Bosca surprised with a cross inspired by the cinematic universe of Jurassic Park. The commission recreated mythical scenes from the saga, including the park's entrance gate and the protagonists' vehicle. The composition also included a volcano that expelled smoke and a pterodactyl crowning the cross, elements that delighted visitors, especially the youngest ones.
The streets of Burriana transformed into a grand artistic and floral route, where residents and visitors could appreciate the proposals crafted by the commissions. The originality and artisanal work of the monuments filled the city with color and a festive atmosphere, keeping alive a highly anticipated tradition.
