The Onda City Council has organized an activity as part of the Pasqua Jove program at the Intergenerational Social Gardens, where young residents have learned about sustainable agriculture and intergenerational coexistence.

This initiative, coordinated by the Youth and Social Services departments, allowed participants to take a guided tour of the facilities, visit active plots, and interact with the gardeners. The day concluded with a shared discussion of acquired knowledge and a commemorative gift, inviting them to future activities.

"These gardens represent much more than a cultivation space: they are a meeting point where knowledge is shared, healthy habits are fostered, and bonds between generations are built. Bringing this project closer to young people is key for them to value the environment, understand the origin of food, and get involved in initiatives that strengthen Onda."

Since their launch in 2021, the intergenerational gardens have featured 27 active plots and 14 user groups, accumulating 70 applications, demonstrating significant public interest. This activity is part of a continuous improvement process, which has included plot conditioning with agricultural machinery, the installation of a new information panel, and the acquisition of five 1,000-liter water tanks.
Furthermore, the City Council has promoted revitalization efforts by distributing traditional local seed varieties, reinforcing the sustainable and educational nature of the space. These improvements adapt to current climatic conditions, prioritizing actions that ensure optimal use and maintenance of the plots.
The project's success, with all plots occupied and a waiting list, has led the council to plan an expansion of available plots. Concurrently, intergenerational proposals continue to be strengthened with biodiversity workshops, seedling creation, signage design, and ecological balance initiatives, solidifying the Intergenerational Social Gardens as a benchmark in Onda for sustainability, inclusion, and citizen participation.
