This program, carried out in collaboration with the Chair of Physical Activity and Oncology (CAFO) of Universitat Jaume I, continues to grow and consolidate as a key resource for the physical recovery of oncology patients. Sessions are organized in two shifts, two days a week, from 9 to 10 AM and from 10 to 11 AM.
“"This program is an example of how, by joining forces with specialized entities, we can bring services to our neighbors that make a difference in their recovery. We continue to provide resources and support to improve the quality of life of people throughout the disease process, from prevention to recovery."
The sessions are led by professionals specialized in physical activity applied to cancer, who adapt the training to each type of illness and the stage of the process each user is in. The main focus is on strength training to regain muscle mass, as well as improving mobility, flexibility, and endurance, fundamental aspects to alleviate the physical effects derived from both the disease and its treatments.
The collaboration with the Chair of Physical Activity and Oncology of Universitat Jaume I provides technical knowledge and specialization, while Onda City Council facilitates the spaces, promotes the service, and brings it closer to citizens, avoiding travel and ensuring close and continuous access.
This municipal commitment to health is complemented by other ongoing initiatives. The City Council is advancing in the tender process for a new mammograph to be installed in Health Center I, with the aim of reinforcing early detection of breast cancer. Additionally, the program of aid for the acquisition of capillary prostheses for people undergoing oncological treatment is maintained, contributing to alleviating the economic impact and reinforcing the emotional well-being of patients.
