This service, organized in two shifts two days a week, from 9:00 to 10:00 and from 10:00 to 11:00 hours, takes place in the Víctor Cabedo pavilion. The sessions are led by professionals specialized in physical activity applied to cancer, who adapt the training to each type of illness and the stage of the process each user is in.
“"This program is an example of how, by joining forces with specialized entities, we can bring services that make a difference in their recovery closer to our neighbors."
The sessions focus on strength training to regain muscle mass, as well as improving mobility, elasticity, and resistance. These aspects are fundamental to alleviate the physical effects derived from both the disease and its treatments, improving patients' daily autonomy.
The program is carried out thanks to the collaboration with the Chair of Physical Activity and Oncology (CAFO) of the Universitat Jaume I, which provides technical knowledge. The City Council facilitates the spaces and promotes the service, ensuring close and continuous access for citizens.
In addition to this program, the City Council is advancing in the tender for a new mammograph to be installed in the Health Center I, with the aim of reinforcing early detection of breast cancer. It also maintains a program of aid for the acquisition of hair prostheses for people undergoing oncological treatment, contributing to the emotional well-being of patients.
