Under the slogan 'Onda as diverse as you', the initiative promotes awareness, coexistence, and the visibility of diversity through culture, education, and citizen participation. The Councilor for Equality, Marta Villanueva, highlighted that this program aims to build a more inclusive city, where all people feel represented, respected, and free to live as they are.
“"The defense of equality is part of this City Council's daily commitment to a more just and open society."
The campaign will run between May and June with proposals aimed at different audiences, from family and educational activities to institutional events and cultural events that invite reflection and the celebration of diversity.
The program will kick off on Saturday, May 9, with the family training 'Educating in sexual and gender diversity', accompanied by a simultaneous storytelling session based on the work La Peluca de Luca, by La Naturadora. This activity will take place from 10:00 to 12:30 in the Aula Natura, in the Pinada del Ermitorio del Santísimo Salvador, and seeks to offer tools to families to address diversity with respect and naturalness from an early age.
“"Educating in equality from childhood is fundamental to prevent discrimination and build coexistence based on mutual respect."
On Friday, May 15, on the occasion of the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, an institutional awareness and advocacy event will be held at 12:00 in El Pla, reaffirming Onda's commitment to defending the rights and freedoms of all people. On the same day, at 19:00 in the Teatro Mónaco, the monologue Género y figura by Vidda Priego will take place, a cultural proposal that addresses issues related to identity and diversity with humor and reflection.
In June, on Saturday the 20th, the Pride celebration will be held in the Font de Dins, starting at 19:00, with a festive day that will include improvisation theater, a rainbow point, games to win prizes, and a concert by Hugo Marlo. The program will culminate on Friday the 26th with a new institutional event on the occasion of LGTBI+ Pride Day in El Pla, at 12:00, as a demonstration of institutional support for a society free of discrimination and prejudice.
