The inaugural ceremony took place this afternoon with the traditional torch run, starting from the Plaça Major and concluding at the Estadi Noulas Antonio Pérez Balada, the venue for the competitions. This edition features students from CEIP Jaume I, CEIP Lope de Vega, CEIP Nou Pedro Alcázar, CEIP Pío XII, CEIP Cervantes, and Col·legi La Consolación.
A highlight of the event was the reading of the sports oath by a student, who reaffirmed the commitment to respect the rules and embrace the games with an Olympic spirit.
The main novelty this year is the introduction of the I Chess Tournament, a discipline that has been well-received by third-grade primary students. This initiative was preceded by training sessions led by Pablo Aymerich, a master candidate from the International Chess Federation (FIDE) and a player for the first team of Club Escacs Vila-real.
The Councilor for Sports, Gabriel Torres, explained that the objective is to promote sports practice and coexistence among the children from the town's educational centers.
In the coming days, participants will compete in various athletics disciplines, including sprints, long jump, shot put, discus throw, vortex, and relays.
The closing ceremony of the XLIV Joan Molés Sports Games will take place next Friday, marking the end of another edition of this traditional school sports gathering.
