The Jaume I University has presented the awards for the ninth edition of the contest ‘What do we do with the trash?’, promoted by the Reciplasa-UJI Chair, recognizing five environmental education projects.

The initiative, a collaboration between Reciplasa, the Jaume I University, and the Castelló Seminar of Environmental Education, has honored works created by educational centers from Vila-real, Segorbe, and Castelló. The contest aims to foster knowledge about recycling, circular economy, and waste reduction among students through creative proposals.
In the Early Childhood Education category, the award went to the project ‘Ajuda Marina’ from CEIP Carlos Sarthou Carreres in Vila-real. Primary Education recognized ‘Ecosistemes: espais per a viure... sense fem’ from CEIP Pintor Camarón in Segorbe.
Secondary Education awarded two projects ex aequo: ‘Creem vida del rebuig’ from IES Juan Bautista Porcar in Castelló, and ‘Els Guardians del Mediterrani’ from IES Vicent Sos Baynat in Castelló. Finally, the Special Education award recognized ‘Netegem la platja de plàstics’ from the Public Special Education Center Penyeta Roja in Castelló.
This year, the contest involved schools from across the province, presenting works focused on waste management, reuse, and environmental protection. The evaluation committee highlighted the students' creativity and effort.
With nine editions, the ‘What do we do with the trash?’ contest has established itself as a long-standing environmental awareness initiative, engaging thousands of students to promote sustainable habits from an early age. The award ceremony took place in the auditorium of the Faculty of Health Sciences at UJI.
