This project includes the comprehensive renovation of the sanitation system in the municipality of La Plana Baixa, including the construction of a new pumping station called ‘Palafangues’. The main objective is to adapt the infrastructure to the current needs of the town.
The action will be financed by the Generalitat through the Public Entity for Wastewater Sanitation (EPSAR). This investment will optimize the operation of a network that, until now, presented problems derived from long and inefficient routes, which generated saturation and greater wear and tear on the infrastructure.
The new pumping system will reorganize water circulation, allowing for more direct and efficient operation, reducing the load on the different sections of the system.
One of the main benefits of this action will be the improvement in the management of rainfall and storm episodes, a recurring situation in the locality. The new system will allow for better management of high flows and prevent overflows in busy areas such as Avel·lí Corma Avenue or El Grau. Furthermore, the renovation will lead to medium-term economic savings by reducing network wear and improving its overall performance.
Work is expected to begin once the summer of 2026 concludes, with an approximate duration of 16 months. Therefore, the new infrastructure could be operational by the end of 2027. In recent years, the Moncofa City Council had already carried out various actions to improve the system, although these did not definitively resolve the existing problems. With this investment, a decisive step is being taken to modernize the sanitation system and ensure more efficient operation adapted to the current reality of the municipality.
