La Vall d'Uixó is on the verge of adding eight new plots to its municipal assets. These parcels, from SAREB and donated by the Spanish Government, include seven residential and one tertiary plot, covering a total area of 7,232 m² with a cadastral value exceeding 2.2 million euros. Mayor Tania Baños has described this donation as a "historic opportunity" that will provide the council with a land reserve to plan the city's growth over the next decade at no additional cost.
The land is distributed across various areas of the town, including Illes Columbretes, Gregal, Tramuntana, 11 (Carbonaire), Pintor Sorolla, Andalucía, Molino Marco, and Octavi Ten i Orenga streets. Notably, two large plots in area 9, each over 1,000 m², stand out, along with other parcels in the Carbonaire neighborhood and on Molino Marco street.
Baños emphasized that this transfer refutes the notion that the Spanish Government does not contribute resources to the municipality. She recalled that, in addition to these plots, La Vall d'Uixó receives 4.5 million euros annually in state transfers and nearly 20 million euros from European funds that are contributing to the city's transformation.
The incorporation of this land is part of the drafting process for the Urban Agenda and the new Municipal Housing Plan. The mayor highlighted the importance of deciding "what we want to build on these plots" to improve residents' quality of life.
The Councilor for Urbanism and Housing, Vicente Pitarch, identified housing as the "main priority," especially for young people. He advocated for the Valencian Government to promote a model similar to the Edificant Plan for the construction of protected public housing, providing funding to local councils.
Pitarch added that the new buildable land will be integrated into the municipal housing strategy. The council has initiated the drafting of the Municipal Housing Plan, which will include a residential diagnosis and define priority actions.
