The summer pool at El Termet in Vila-real has kicked off the season with a massive response from users. After the first week of opening, and up to June 9th, the municipal complex has registered over 2,500 accesses, a figure that confirms the appeal of a facility that once again stands as one of the city's main leisure, sports, and climate refuge spaces during the hot months.
This data consolidates the positive reception already noted at the start of the campaign. Indeed, the June 1st edition already reported on the success of the opening day, with over 300 users on its first day, including members of sports clubs and the general public, as well as queues at the entrance during the hottest hours. A week and a half later, the figures confirm that initial impression and highlight the high demand for the Termet facility among families, athletes, and users of the Servei Municipal d’Esports (Municipal Sports Service).
The turnout is particularly significant because the season began this year with new access fees, higher than in previous years. Individual tickets are priced at 5 euros for those over 13 years old and 3 euros for minors, while 10-use passes cost 37 and 22 euros, respectively. Despite this price increase, the pool has maintained a high level of attraction since day one.
The Councilor for Sports, Xus Madrigal, has positively assessed these initial figures, stating that “the public's response has been very good since the very day this summer space opened its doors”. He points out that the numbers “confirm that it was a wise decision to bring forward the pool's opening and extend the season,” a decision that, he explains, responds both to the demands of sports clubs and the need for more climate refuge spaces in the face of high temperatures.
The pool will remain open until September 15th, allowing for an extended period of use compared to previous years and offering more opportunities for citizens to enjoy it. The facility operates with morning and afternoon hours, from 9:30 AM to 8:30 PM, and continues to establish itself as one of Vila-real's most in-demand summer amenities.
Adding to the pool's popularity is the opening of the picnic area, which began operating last Saturday after being refurbished. This space has also become a highly visited and sought-after area, and the City Council plans to continue incorporating improvements according to user needs.
Madrigal emphasizes that the Department of Sports continues to work to “adapt municipal facilities to the real needs of the citizens, listening to sports groups and offering quality services that improve people's well-being”. In this regard, he stresses that the planned actions at the complex, particularly in the picnic area and the development of the shade plan, aim to increase comfort and protection areas against the heat.
Furthermore, the municipal summer campaigns organized by the Servei Municipal d’Esports (SME) have also registered high participation. In total, 1,232 people have pre-registered for the Estiu Actiu (Active Summer) and Escola Esportiva d'Estiu (Summer Sports School) programs. The draw for place allocation was held this Wednesday, and the resulting number for initiating registration formalization was 306.
In this regard, the SME is communicating the allocation of places to participants via email. Additionally, users with access to the DeporSite platform can already check their assigned activity, session, and schedule. Confirmation of places must be completed before June 16th.
Madrigal also highlights “the great trust that families place year after year in the municipal summer sports and educational activities”; and assures that the goal is for both Estiu Actiu and Escola Esportiva d'Estiu to "continue being benchmark programs that combine sport, family reconciliation, coexistence, and learning in a safe and quality environment".
