This project, requested by the Bishopric of Segorbe-Castellón, will allow for the improvement of the premises where priests, who focus their theological work on missions in the third world, are housed and receive teaching and religious training.
Among the planned actions, the construction of a circular chapel of 500 square meters stands out, which will replace the current open-air altar and provide a covered space for celebrations. Additionally, a new padel court will be added to the existing swimming pool, expanding sports and leisure options. It is worth noting that most of the 48,537 square meters occupied by the seminary will remain a wooded area.
The bishopric will also undertake the rehabilitation of two of the three auxiliary buildings in the complex. One will be used for accommodation for kitchen and cleaning staff, while the other will remain unused. These improvements are complemented by the construction of a fourth auxiliary building to house the laundry.
In the main building, where seminarians are trained and reside, the four floors will be remodeled. The plan includes eliminating the basement rooms to create an open-plan multipurpose room and installing an elevator to improve accessibility.
The seminary, built in 1963 as the House of Spirituality of Betxí, has undergone several renovations throughout its history, with this being the third major intervention after those carried out in 1987 and 2011.
