The yellow reserve team, which faces Hércules CF at the José Manuel Llaneza Sports City, has shown significant improvement in its performance. After a league start where they did not secure their first victory until the seventh matchday, the team has strung together a run of six consecutive matches in 'play-off' positions, four of them as fourth-placed.
The yellows have not suffered a defeat for almost two months, with their last loss occurring at Municipal Pinilla on March 8 against CD Teruel. Although their away record is slightly better than their home record, with 26 of their 55 points earned away from Vila-real, the consistency shown is a key factor in their upward trajectory.
“"Hércules is a well-coached team, with a strong squad, talented players, and a lot of courage."
Unlike Villarreal B, which has steadily improved despite losing important players, Hércules CF presents a more stagnant situation. The blue and whites are six points behind the fifth-placed team and eight points behind the yellow reserve team, having not entered the top five positions since the first matchday of the league.
Historically, Villarreal has surpassed Hércules over the past two decades. The 21 official clashes between the blue and white first team and the yellow reserve team have occurred in the last 19 years, mainly in the 12 seasons during which Hércules has been outside professional football. The balance stands at 12 yellow victories (five in Alicante), three draws (all at Rico Pérez), and six blue and white victories (three in Vila-real).
