Villarreal B achieved an important 1-0 victory against Hércules at the Mini Estadi, thanks to a goal from Hugo López, bringing them closer to a play-off spot.

The yellow reserves earned three crucial points in a hard-fought match, where they managed the pressure from a desperate opponent. The win keeps David Albelda's team on a positive streak, having not lost at home for over 155 days.
The decisive goal came in the 35th minute, when Hugo López capitalized on a defensive error by Hércules to score the only goal of the match. Earlier, in the 19th minute, a goal by Albert García was disallowed for offside. The Vila-real team dominated the first half, creating several dangerous opportunities.
In the second half, Hércules attempted to react and came close to equalizing in the 55th minute, but goalkeeper Rubén Gómez made a superb save. Shortly after, the post denied Villarreal B a second goal, maintaining the tension until the end. The defeat leaves Hércules mathematically out of contention for the fifth spot.
The next fixture for Villarreal B will be against Europa, at Nou Sardenya, next Saturday starting at 4:30 PM.
