The Popular Party of Castellón will speak this Monday in the Senate to demand the necessary investments for the development of the province's roads, which they believe the government of Pedro Sánchez is denying. According to a statement from the Popular Party, the Castellón senators will defend in the Transport Commission an initiative that has already been approved in commission in Les Corts, despite the rejection from PSPV and Compromís.
Susana Marqués, PPCS senator and mayor of Benicàssim, stated that "the Government cannot continue announcing without executing, promising without fulfilling, and leaving the province of Castellón in a permanent paralysis and waiting that is no longer justifiable." Therefore, the initiative calls for the execution of pending infrastructure projects in various parts of the province, including the internal connection between Vilanova de Alcolea and La Jana, as well as the resumption of suspended works on the N-232, between the masía de la Torreta and Morella south.
Marqués highlighted that the N-232 is a clear example of a contracted, initiated, and currently paralyzed work, with machinery and signage removed without a clear explanation or timeline for its reactivation. "We are not asking for announcements, we are asking for the project to be executed and for a date to be given," she affirmed.
The senator also emphasized the situation in Benicàssim, where the northern access via the N-340 and the access to the AP-7 are still pending. These actions are necessary to improve safety and manage mobility in a tourist municipality with hundreds of thousands of annual visitors.
The motion also includes other demands such as the southern link of Torreblanca, the section of the N-340 in Almenara, the issue with the N-340 in Les Alqueries, and the underpass of the N-232 in Sant Jordi, a project requested for over a decade.
The PPCS proposal also calls for the diversion of the N-340 through Les Alqueries to ensure residents' safety. The access from the N-340 to Torreblanca and the elimination of the black spot on this road in Almenara will also be requested. Finally, access from the AP-7 to Benicàssim, Vila-real, and Vinaròs is urgently needed.
"We want to be part of the solution to a problem called 'sanchismo'. Since the PSOE chose Pedro Sánchez as president, our province has not stopped losing. And we want it to win. Because it is fair. And that is what we work for. We trust in a unanimous agreement from the chamber," expressed Marqués.
