The athlete from Benlloch, who started playing at five years old, began his professional career in 2005. Two years later, he debuted on the ATP Tour at the Valencia Open on clay, returning in 2009 to compete in the indoor hard court format.

Throughout his career, the tennis player has played 732 matches, with a record of 435 wins and 297 losses on the ATP. He is noted for his intensity, tactical ability, and adaptability to any surface, achieving the highest winning percentage on grass.
His achievements include 12 ATP titles and a Davis Cup. Recently, he achieved his 100th victory in an ATP Masters 1000 at the BNP Paribas Open (Indian Wells), becoming the tenth Spaniard and 50th player in history to reach this milestone.
In 2019, he reached the world number 9 ranking, a peak year in his career. He reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open and the semifinals of Wimbledon. That same year, he was crucial for Spain's victory in the Davis Cup, returning to the competition just days after his father's passing.
Before dedicating himself exclusively to tennis, he combined this sport with football until he was 14, playing in the youth categories of Villarreal CF.
