This Friday saw the launch of these new units, which offer greater storage capacity, especially for organic waste. Containers designated for organic waste have a capacity of 2 m³, while those for general waste, packaging, and paper are 3.2 m³.
Furthermore, the new containers feature a design that makes it difficult to extract bags and waste, thereby contributing to improved hygiene and cleanliness at collection points throughout the municipality.
This action responds to a commitment made by the City Council of the capital of La Plana Baixa within the framework of the latest service contract extension. The main objective is to enhance the appearance of collection points in central areas of the city, provide them with a more uniform look, and expand the capacity for organic and selective waste collection in locations that required it.
The installation is being carried out by Fobesa, the company responsible for waste collection services in the municipality. Work began this morning in El Plà and Plaza de la Generalitat. Over the coming days, Fobesa will continue with the replacement and creation of new points until all planned locations are completed. Only the installation at Terraza Payà will remain, which will take place once the pavement remodeling works on San Vicent street, scheduled imminently, are finished.
In total, the initiative will cover 21 points in the municipality, some of which are newly created, including El Plà, Av. Mediterránea, Plaza de la Generalitat, Escorredor, Zona del Mercado, San Blai, Poeta Calzada, San Martín, Menéndez y Pelayo, Buen Suceso, Pza. 9 d'Octubre, Canalejas, Camí d'Onda, and Terraza Payà.
Additionally, this replacement is expected to continue with new acquisitions for the rest of the city, prioritizing containers and areas that the concessionaire company has registered with higher waste collection volumes.
“"With this renovation, the council and the awarded company Fobesa have taken another step forward in improving waste management and the aesthetic integration of urban infrastructure into the daily life of the municipality."
