The Burriana City Council, through its Environment Department, has launched an environmental education program that transforms natural spaces into living classrooms for nearly 450 students from six educational centers in the municipality.
This initiative, which seeks to foster knowledge and respect for the local ecosystem, will be developed in collaboration with the Fundació Limne. This conservationist entity will bring learning to the Clot de la Mare de Déu Municipal Natural Park, an enclave recognized with the Blue Trail distinction by Adeac.
Through playful activities and manipulative materials, students will be able to delve into key ecological concepts. Topics covered include water quality, the impact of invasive species, and the importance of protecting biodiversity, highlighting the presence of endangered species such as the otter in this area.
The educational project is adapted for both Primary and Secondary cycles, allowing young people from Burriana to take on the role of biologists for a day. This will be achieved through didactic itineraries and participatory dynamics that will connect them directly with the natural environment.
The Environment Councillor added that, with this project, not only is environmental education brought closer to the classrooms, but it also opens the door to a more responsible, participatory, and committed collective consciousness regarding the future of the municipality. She emphasized that protecting our environment today ensures the quality of life for future generations.
