Burriana Awards Falla Barri l’Escorredor and La Bosca in May Crosses Competition

The Burriana City Council has presented the awards for the 2026 May Crosses, acknowledging the artisanal work of the Fallas commissions with increased prize money.

The city of Burriana held its award ceremony for the 2026 May Crosses this afternoon. This competition, which highlights the artisanal work of the Fallas commissions, introduced a significant novelty this year: an increase in the prize money.
In the adult category, the first prize went to Falla Barri l’Escorredor, which also received recognition for the best May Cross. The second prize was awarded to Falla Barri La Bosca, while the third prize went to Falla Barri València.
For the children's category, Falla Barri La Bosca secured the first prize and the award for the best children's Cross. The second place was awarded to Falla Barri l’Escorredor, and the third to Falla Barri València.
The event was attended by the Mayor of Burriana, Jorge Monferrer Daudí, the Councilor for Fallas and president of the Local Fallas Board, Paloma Boix, as well as the 2026 Fallas Queens, Laura Sendra and Ana Olivas, and members of the municipal corporation. The role of the commissions in consolidating this tradition, declared a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest, was emphasized.
The Councilor for Fallas, Paloma Boix, highlighted that the increase in prize money and the creation of a specific financial award for the best cross are part of the municipal commitment to strengthen support for the Fallas commissions. She acknowledged their "immense effort every year" and stated the aim to provide "economic relief to the Fallas members."
