This decision was made after a meeting with residents and merchants, as part of the municipal program “Amb els meus veïns” (With my neighbors). The measure seeks to reconcile the necessary works with the economic activity of the area, which is particularly sensitive during these festive dates.
The works, which had already been rescheduled once, will be carried out between June and July, with the expectation of finishing before August 15th. This deadline is crucial, as it is when the bullfighting barriers are set up for the Festivities of Misericordia. The council has considered that the summer period reduces the impact on residents, as many are in the maritime area.
The intervention involves connecting the storm drain network of Sant Vicent street with the new collector and the storm tank in Sant Blai square, as part of the municipal Master Plan. The main objective is to increase the water evacuation capacity in an area particularly vulnerable to heavy rainfall episodes. Additionally, the repaving of the road is planned.
“"We have sought consensus with residents and merchants to minimize the impact of the works on street activity. The planning responds to criteria of transparency and proximity, and it is a necessary action to improve the city's protection against intense rainfall episodes."
This project is part of the municipal initiative 'Amb els meus veïns', a program of periodic meetings with different neighborhoods and sectors of the city. The purpose is to gather proposals, identify needs, and improve municipal management, fostering citizen participation.
