The Burriana Local Police has opened proceedings against a resident for the alleged forgery and use of a parking card for people with reduced mobility, after a legitimate beneficiary reported the improper occupation of a reserved space.

The incident occurred when a citizen, holder of a reduced mobility card, requested police presence after observing that a vehicle parked in a reserved space did not respect the time limit, preventing him from using the spot. Upon arrival, officers requested the vehicle owner and, upon examining the document displayed, found that it was a digitized copy of an original card issued by a neighboring municipality in another person's name.
Initial investigations confirmed the falsity of the document and the fraudulent use by several members of the same family. These actions cause serious harm to legitimate beneficiaries, who rely on these cards to access reserved spaces and obtain essential parking benefits for their daily mobility.

"We pursue these types of fraud that directly harm the legitimate holders of reduced mobility cards, making their daily lives difficult in such an essential aspect as mobility."

Given the seriousness of the facts, the officers carried out the pertinent proceedings and transferred the report to the Guardia Civil Main Post and the Duty Court, as these behaviors could constitute an alleged crime of document forgery.
To strengthen fraud prevention, the Burriana council has created the Gedoc (Document Management Group) within the Local Police. This new unit, composed of an officer and an agent under the direction of an inspector, specializes in document expertise and provides technical support to other units in verifying official and traffic-related documents. Gedoc conducts weekly preventive controls to detect drivers and vehicles with irregular documentation. Recently, they already detected a vehicle with foreign license plates that had been stolen in its country of origin and was circulating with false documentation.

"Citizens must understand that lack of solidarity and cunning can lead to crime and having to answer to Justice. With the launch of Gedoc, Burriana is once again at the forefront to achieve a safer city and create an environment with more surveillance and police presence, capable of guaranteeing that the rights of all residents are respected."
