The plenary session of Burriana approved in its ordinary June session a budget modification of 150,000 euros for the comprehensive repair of the municipality's playgrounds. This action will allow for the correction of defects accumulated due to daily use and the passage of time in a total of 24 locations.
In the same session, the management commission was approved for the Valencian Housing and Land Entity (EVha) to promote the construction of 41 public protection housing units. These homes will be built on a municipal plot of 759 square meters, recently acquired from Sareb. The agreement delegates to the regional entity the material and technical tasks necessary for the processing, resolution, and awarding of municipal plots, aiming to expedite the project thanks to EVha's technical resources.
This initiative is part of the municipal strategy to facilitate access to housing in the capital of la Plana Baixa, and it complements the 50% reduction in the construction tax (ICIO) recently approved to encourage the construction of protected housing. The council aims to offer housing solutions for young people, enabling them to develop their life projects in Burriana without housing prices being an insurmountable obstacle.
Regarding the improvement of leisure infrastructure, the approved 150,000 euros will be allocated to enhance the accessibility and comfort of children's play areas and urban sports areas. The mayor, Jorge Monferrer Daudí, highlighted the municipal government's sensitivity towards children, recalling the creation of the city's largest inclusive playground and the commitment to placing children and families at the center of every program.
Other agreements from the plenary session include the approval of the General Account for the Fiscal Year 2025, the extension of the cleaning contract for schools, the municipal swimming pool, and other facilities, as well as the modification of the management contract for the drinking water supply and sewerage service, which incorporates the maintenance of the Sant Blai storm tank. The Government of Spain was also urged to take urgent measures to alleviate the collapse of traffic examiners in the province, and a motion was supported to ensure the presence of both Castilian and Valencian languages in municipal signage.
