To mark the 50th anniversary of the Comissió del Bou, the capital of La Plana Baixa will feature the exhibition of a bull from the renowned Salamanca ranch, Garcigrande. This event will be the first time this prestigious breed is advertised and displayed in the streets of Burriana. Scheduled for Monday, September 7th, the event is set to be a major highlight of the patron saint festivals' bullfighting calendar.
The Garcigrande ranch, founded by Domingo Hernández in the 1990s and whose cattle graze in the municipality of Alaraz (Salamanca), represents the evolution of the fighting bull towards modern bullfighting. It is a favorite among top bullfighters for its consistency, class, and ability to charge with temperament and depth, making it one of the most sought-after in premier arenas like Madrid and Pamplona.
For this special occasion, a bull has been selected that fully meets the expectations of the anniversary. 'Tutor', a chestnut-colored bull marked with number 109 and the brand 1, is notable for its large size, imposing features, and impressive horn spread, making it an extraordinary specimen.
The Councilor for Festivals, Paloma Boix, emphasized the significance of this milestone, stating, “The arrival of a breed like Garcigrande to our streets demonstrates the level and ambition with which Burriana celebrates its patron saint festivals.” For the councilor, this exhibition aims to “offer fans a truly unique and singular event in such a significant year, as we celebrate half a century of history and tradition of our Comissió del Bou.”
