The town of Burriana is joining the eighth edition of 'The Recycling Challenge', an initiative by Ecoembes and the Ministry of Environment that seeks to promote packaging collection and reward the most committed municipality.

Starting tomorrow, April 22, Burriana will participate in this environmental awareness campaign, which will reward the municipality that recycles plastic packaging, cans, and bricks in the yellow container the most and best. The city competes with other towns such as Almassora, l'Alcora, Onda, Vall d'Uixó, Sagunto, Segorbe, Moncofa, and Almenara.
The main objective of the initiative is to increase the collection of packaging from the yellow container by at least 10% on average during the months of June and July, compared to the same period last year. If Burriana wins, the 6,000 euros prize will be fully allocated to the Fibromyalgia Association of the capital of La Plana Baixa, thus combining ecological commitment with social action.
To achieve this purpose, a team of environmental educators will visit the municipality over three days. Tomorrow, April 22, an information stand will be set up at the main entrance of the Mercat Municipal (Sant Victorià street) from 9 AM to 2 PM, a location that will be repeated on May 20. On May 12, the action will move to Rafael Martí Viciana Square at the same time. During these days, questions about waste separation will be answered, and common myths about recycling will be debunked.
The campaign also focuses on new generations. The Ecoembes team will give environmental education talks to a hundred students at CEIP Pare Vilallonga and IES Llombai, on April 22 and May 12 respectively. These actions aim to maximize the impact of sustainability in both domestic and educational settings.

"We are embarking on a challenge that goes far beyond recycling. It is an opportunity to demonstrate, once again, the type of city we are: committed, supportive, and aware of the value of every small gesture. Every container we deposit in the yellow bin is not just well-managed waste; it is a decision and a way to care for our environment, our beaches, our streets, and the place where we live."

"Our effort has a solidarity purpose: to support the Fibromyalgia Association of Burriana. This means that recycling not only helps the planet but also people in our own city who need it. We are going to turn an everyday gesture into an act of help, because when a city unites, no goal is impossible."
