The Compromís party has strongly criticized the mayor of Almenara's decision to call a motion of confidence, deeming it an electoralist act and political irresponsibility.

Political tension in Almenara continues to rise following the rejection of the municipal budgets for 2026. In this context, Compromís has responded to the mayor's decision to undergo a motion of confidence with harsh criticism of the governing team's management.
The party has described the call for the extraordinary plenary session, scheduled for next Wednesday, April 29, as an act of “total irresponsibility” and has accused the mayor of acting with electoral motives. According to Compromís, politics should serve to improve people's lives, not for personal strategic games, emphasizing that trust is earned through actions, not demanded.

The Valencianist party believes that the mayor's decision comes at a crucial moment, one year before the next municipal elections, and states that it means “putting the town at the mercy of circumstances.” They claim that throughout the legislature, they have tried to promote agreements and dialogue with the governing team but have encountered “a wall,” criticizing that the PSPV “prefers blockage and spectacle over honest negotiation.”
The group also recalled the last municipal plenary session, where, they allege, the PSPV and PP agreed to approve a 95% bonus on the ICIO for a company, which represents a tax benefit of nearly four million euros. A Compromís spokesperson has stated that this decision is “incomprehensible and unforgivable,” especially in a context where, they claim, the municipality faces maintenance problems in streets, parks, and public services.
The call for the motion of confidence occurs after the opposition's rejection of the budgets. This legal mechanism will link the approval of the accounts to the continuity of the government. Should the mayor not obtain the support of the plenary, the opposition will have one month to present a motion of no confidence. If it is not presented or does not succeed, the budget will be automatically approved. Compromís has insisted that it will not accept “any political blackmail” and has defended its position as a commitment to “useful politics,” focused on agreements and the improvement of the municipality.
