The Almenara City Council has called an extraordinary plenary session for April 29 to debate a motion of confidence linked to the approval of the 2026 municipal budget.

This measure is activated after the municipal plenary rejected the budget proposal presented by the PSPV government team. The opposing votes from the opposition groups, Compromís and PP, prevented the initial approval of the budget, leading the mayor to use this legal mechanism to unblock the situation.
The extraordinary session, scheduled for Wednesday, April 29, will focus on the debate of the confidence vote raised by the mayor, which is directly linked to the approval of the municipal accounts. This mechanism is provided for in current regulations to avoid situations of institutional deadlock in city councils, allowing the budget approval to be tied to a confidence vote to ensure municipal governance.
Should the motion of confidence not receive majority support from the plenary, opposition groups will have one month to present a motion of no confidence with an alternative mayoral candidate. If no motion of no confidence is presented within that period, or if it does not succeed in a plenary session, the budget will be automatically and definitively approved, once the corresponding public exhibition period has passed.
