The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has commenced the first phase of works to dual six kilometers of the N-340 as it passes through Orpesa, with a budget of 28.5 million euros.

The works, which have already begun with tree felling, will focus on adapting the route and reorganizing access points of the current road. This intervention includes the construction of a new interchange at La Renegá, the redesign of the Orpesa partial interchange, and the improvement of the connection with the AP-7.
The main objective is to transform the current N-340, between kilometers 992 and 998, into the first carriageway of a future road dualling. This measure aims to significantly improve traffic conditions and road safety in this section.
The project also includes the redesign of several existing intersections and partial interchanges. At the La Renegá interchange, at kilometer 992.7, a new diamond-type interchange with an underpass roundabout will be built to facilitate access to the urbanization and karting facilities.
Regarding the Orpesa partial interchange, the current configuration will be modified to a diamond-type with weights, maintaining the underpass. Finally, the interchange with the AP-7, located at kilometer 996, will replace the T-intersection with a trumpet-type grade-separated interchange, allowing all possible movements between the N-340 and the highway.
