The town of Oropesa will host the fourth edition of the Scott Mediterranean Epic Gran Fondo this Saturday, April 25, 2026, bringing together over 3,000 cyclists from 14 nationalities.

This cycling event, which will start at 7:30 AM, offers a demanding day through the province of Castellón. The organization has finalized preparations to welcome the large group of participants, consolidating Oropesa as a European cycling tourism hub.
The main attraction of this edition is the presence of former professional cyclist Joaquim 'Purito' Rodríguez, who will serve as the visible face and guest of honor of the event. Rodríguez, with a distinguished career including two victories in the Giro di Lombardia and nine stages in La Vuelta a España, will participate in the race.

"Having a legend of Spanish cycling is a true honor. He is a profile that fits the technical and charismatic profile of the event."

In addition to his participation in the race, 'Purito' Rodríguez will take advantage of the day before, this Friday at 7:00 PM, to record an episode of his popular podcast Puro Ciclismo at the finish line stage, accompanied by his trusted domestique, Ángel Vicioso.
The Scott Mediterranean Epic Gran Fondo maintains its three traditional distances to adapt to the characteristics of each rider. With start and finish in Oropesa, participants can choose between routes of 196 kilometers (Gran Fondo), 160 kilometers (medium distance), and 110 kilometers (short distance). These routes cross 13 municipalities in the province of Castellón, offering a perfect setting to enjoy the territory.
The organizing team has worked intensively to ensure that the route showcases the best roads in the province, highlighting Castellón's potential for cycling, within the Castellón Cycling project of the Diputación de Castellón. The event will conclude with the traditional post-finish party in the gardens of Oropesa, where cyclists can share experiences and celebrate their achievement.
