The incident occurred around 2:20 AM this Sunday, at kilometer marker 981 of the N-340. Several vehicles were involved in the accident, although the causes that originated the collision are currently unknown.
Two SAMU units, two Basic Life Support (SVB) units, and one Advanced Nursing Life Support (SVAE) unit were dispatched to the scene. These resources enabled simultaneous attention to the victims, given the high number of affected individuals at a single point on the road.
Medical services confirmed the deaths of four people at the scene of the accident: three men and one woman. Another six people, all men, were injured in the accident, according to data provided by the Information and Coordination Center for Emergencies (CICU).
Healthcare teams treated the six injured individuals at the same location on the N-340 where the collision occurred. Three of them sustained multiple traumas, consistent with a high-intensity impact, while the other three suffered various contusions.
Following initial roadside assistance, four of the injured were transferred to the General Hospital of Castellón for specialized care. The other two injured individuals were taken to the Hospital de la Plana, the reference center for the area, where they were admitted for assessment and medical follow-up.
Traffic authorities emphasized that, as this was a multi-vehicle incident with fatalities, the investigation will need to determine the sequence of events and contributing factors. Meanwhile, emergency services focused their efforts on medical attention and the gradual normalization of traffic flow on this section of the N-340, which experiences high traffic volume in the province of Castellón.
