The Popular Party (PP) of Castellón has denounced the impact of increased fees on over 43,000 self-employed individuals in the province, calling for measures to alleviate the tax burden on family businesses.

The provincial president of the PP of Castellón has advocated in Almassora for lower taxes for the self-employed, opposing what she described as a “fiscal blow” from the central Government. The political party states that the fee increase affects more than 43,000 self-employed individuals in the province, with nearly 10,000 directly bearing the applied increase.
The popular leader visited several local businesses and warned that rising costs jeopardize the continuity of family shops, bars, florists, and stores. The PP estimates that this policy implies an average annual increase of 1,600 euros per self-employed person, particularly harming women and workers in rural areas.

"The fee increase is detrimental to thousands of businesses, and the Popular Party is working on proposals to alleviate the tax burden. Solutions are getting closer."

The political party argues that the self-employed generate wealth and employment, and has criticized the central Government for prioritizing revenue collection over management. It also indicated that the PP advocates for reducing taxes, simplifying procedures, and decreasing bureaucratic burden, which, according to their data, entails an average cost of 3,000 euros per year.
Proposed measures include VAT exemption for those invoicing less than 85,000 euros, a zero-rate for new entrepreneurs, reduced declarations, and exemption from contributions in certain cases of illness or family reconciliation.

"The fee increase not only affects the self-employed but also the local economy as a whole, as the impact extends to all citizens and generates collective harm."
