A joint political decision by PSPV, Compromís, and Vox in the latest Almassora plenary session has postponed a technical project aimed at improving residents' quality of life with a new green area.

The decision, described as a blockade, involves shelving a collaboration agreement with the Generalitat Valenciana. This project, developed over several months, aimed to create a green zone between the Serrallo industrial estate and Almassora beach, specifically in the Om Blanc area.
The manner in which the blockade occurred has raised concerns. According to municipal sources, all groups had access to the documentation for weeks and had been able to study the project. In the informative commission, the parties opted for abstention, which did not indicate outright rejection. However, shortly before the plenary session, they changed their criteria and prevented the agreement from being voted on.
The project was not an ideological matter, but a technical agreement between administrations to transform the space into a natural transition between the residential area and the industrial estate. Its implementation would have reduced visual impact, improved the environment, and contributed to the well-being of residents. The decision has been criticized for halting an action that aligns with principles of environmental improvement and efficient management.

"Almassora cannot afford these types of decisions. Every lost opportunity is time that cannot be recovered. And in this case, we are talking about an essential step to formalize the agreement with the Generalitat and launch the planned actions."

The government team has stated that it will continue to work with responsibility, dialogue, and technical rigor to promote projects that benefit residents. Likewise, it has called on the opposition to show foresight, reminding them that governing, even from the opposition, implies thinking about the general interest and not political calculations. Almassora has lost an important opportunity today, and it is hoped that it will not be definitive.
