The exhibition 'Kiss', by artist Marina Bobo, has opened at the Melchor Zapata Cultural Center in Benicàssim. This work is part of the selected exhibitions for the Imaginària 2026 photography festival, organized by the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón.
'Kiss' originates from a compilation of archival images sourced from the internet, media, and public social networks, depicting people kissing. The unique aspect of these visual fragments is that they show individuals who were subsequently murdered by those kissing them.
Bobo (Madrid, 1996) presents 77 images, a number referencing the estimated average of crimes with affective ties committed worldwide every hour. In this work, the gesture of the kiss serves as a device to question the notion of passion and highlight its capacity to transform into violence. The interpretation of the images radically shifts when the stories surrounding their subjects become known.
The exhibition will be open to the public until June 21. Visiting hours are: Thursdays and Fridays, from 6 PM to 9 PM; Saturdays, from 11 AM to 2 PM and 6 PM to 9 PM; and Sundays, from 11 AM to 2 PM.
Guided tours with the artist are scheduled for Friday, May 29 (7 PM), Saturday, June 13 (12 PM), and Sunday, June 21 (12 PM). Attendance requires prior reservation via email at cultura@benicassim.org, at the Casa de Cultura, or by calling 964 30 45 65.
