The events took place last Saturday afternoon at the CF Torreblanca field, during a match in Group 1 of the Segunda Cadet Castellón category. An eyewitness described the moments of panic when, in the second half, a scuffle between players and fans escalated to the point where a supporter, apparently a minor and a sympathizer of the visiting team, threatened to use a knife.
According to consulted sources, a group of local supporters hurled insults at the visiting players for much of the match. The host club attempted to contain the situation by isolating this group and placing fences, but tensions boiled over. With about 10 minutes left, a Vall d’Alba player confronted some of these fans, initiating a brawl involving players from both teams and spectators who jumped onto the field.
“"Little happened compared to what could have been unleashed..."
The most critical moment occurred when a visiting spectator displayed a bladed weapon. The Torreblanca Local Police quickly intervened, searched the individual, confiscated the weapon, and removed him from the premises. The referee's report, accessed by this newspaper, notes that a section of the stands bothered the Vall d’Alba players and that, after the incidents, the referee ordered the players to withdraw to the locker room.
After the public was evacuated to another area of the complex, the match resumed practically behind closed doors and ended in a one-all draw. This result keeps Vall d’Alba as the leader with 58 points, one more than Torreblanca. Sources from both teams highlighted the referee's management, Joan Caldés, in preventing further harm.
“"The club strongly condemns the events that occurred during yesterday's cadet grassroots football match in Torreblanca. The appearance of violent behavior, insults, and any form of intimidation is absolutely incompatible with the values we uphold as a sports entity."
CD Vall d’Alba, known as the L'Avenc club, issued a statement on its social media condemning the events. They emphasized their commitment to respect, training, and the protection of all minors involved in sports, stating that football should be a safe, educational, and coexisting space for everyone.
