The Benicàssim City Council has initiated proceedings to recognize the work of the Local Police in two emergency interventions, one involving a sea rescue and the other saving a life through cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

The recognition proposal includes the Cross of Police Merit with a red distinction for an officer who entered the sea with a red flag and strong waves to attempt to rescue a minor who drowned during Holy Week. This incident occurred between Els Terrers and Torre Sant Vicent, and the officer took a direct risk to his own life.
While one officer tried to reach the minor, another coordinated the actions of emergency teams from the breakwater, facilitating the location of the rescue point despite the difficult waves. The operation involved the rescue and lifeguard service, health personnel, and several citizens. The minor was rescued and transferred to the Hospital General de Castellón, but ultimately passed away.
The second recognition file refers to a very different but equally critical intervention, in which the life of a man who suffered cardiorespiratory arrest in a restaurant was saved. A patrol responded to a 112 call, and the officers immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers. One of them went to the police vehicle to retrieve the DESA defibrillator, while the other continued with assistance.
The speed of the intervention allowed the affected person's pulse to be recovered before the arrival of health services, an action that was decisive in saving his life. Both cases reflect the importance of the Local Police's intervention in highly serious scenarios, in coordination with other emergency personnel.
