The Benicàssim City Council has launched two 'Traveling Libraries' in Europa Park and País Valencià Square, a pilot initiative to bring reading closer to citizens.

On the occasion of International Book Day, this proposal seeks to bring reading to public spaces through free book exchange points. The project consists of installing wooden huts where residents can leave books they have already read or pick up new ones, with the aim of fostering reading habits and facilitating access to culture.

"The initiative seeks to integrate reading into daily life and the use of urban space, promoting books as part of the experience of enjoying the municipality."

According to municipal sources, these spaces operate under an open system that allows anyone to participate in the exchange, favoring the circulation of books among citizens and visitors. The Culture Councilor highlighted that these proposals, also known as free libraries or bookcrossing systems, aim to awaken interest in reading and expand its reach to all audiences.
The huts were built by the municipal brigade using recycled materials, an action that incorporates sustainability and circular economy criteria by reusing resources and reducing the environmental impact of the intervention. Free book exchange initiatives have gained presence in numerous municipalities as a way to democratize access to reading and revitalize public spaces. In Benicàssim, this action is part of the cultural program linked to International Book Day.
