Benicàssim will host this Sunday the OCEANMAN 2026, a prominent international open water swimming event that will gather 860 swimmers from 52 nationalities, reinforcing its role in sports tourism.
This edition of the competition, held exclusively in Benicàssim, marks the beginning of the European calendar for the event. It is expected that 50% of the participants will be international, highlighting the global nature of the event.
The sports program includes various modalities throughout the weekend. The main event, the OCEANMAN, consists of an individual, competitive, and timed course of 10 kilometers. Additionally, the HALF OCEANMAN, of 5 kilometers, and the SPRINT modality, with a distance of between 1.5 and 2 kilometers, will be contested, both aimed at swimmers seeking shorter distances without sacrificing the competitive nature of the event.
The organization has also considered younger participants with OCEANKIDS, which offers courses of between 500 and 750 meters. In parallel, OCEANTEAMS will be held, a relay race for teams of three swimmers over the same distance, with male, female, and mixed categories.
The OCEANMAN 2026 stands out for its inclusive nature, as it includes modalities such as OCEANFINS, with courses of between 1.5 and 2 kilometers, and a specific event for people with functional diversity, with distances of 50 to 200 meters and the possibility of participating with a companion.
The presentation of the competition was attended by the highest municipal authority, the director general of Sports of the Generalitat Valenciana, the deputy for Sports, the councilor for Sports, and the managers of Oceanman Spain. With this new edition, Benicàssim consolidates its beaches as a venue for international competitions and strengthens its position as a destination linked to sports, the sea, and tourist activity outside the high season.
