Benicàssim is preparing to host 860 open water swimmers from 52 different nationalities in the prestigious international Oceanman 2026 event, which opens the European calendar for the discipline and solidifies the town's position as a sports tourism hub.
The event, scheduled for this Sunday, offers a comprehensive and inclusive program with distances ranging from 10 kilometers to children's and adapted sports categories. The city council's management highlighted the value of this competition, which once again transforms the city's beaches into a venue for high-level international sports events.
The races taking place throughout the weekend will feature different modalities adapted to all levels and participation profiles. These include the Oceanman (10 km), the flagship individual, competitive, and timed race, along with the Half Oceanman (5 km) and the Sprint modality (between 1.5 and 2 km), also competitive.
The event also includes Oceankids, aimed at younger participants with distances between 500 and 750 meters, and Oceanteams, a team relay race for three swimmers over the same distance, with male, female, and mixed categories. Additionally, modalities such as Oceanfins (between 1.5 and 2 km) and a race for people with functional diversity (from 50 to 200 meters, with an accompanying person) are included. All competitions are individual or team-based, competitive, and timed, consolidating a complete and inclusive sports program.
