The Almassora City Council held an institutional event to name two prominent personalities as favorite son and adoptive son, in a ceremony filled with emotion and recognition.
The recently renovated House of Culture in Almassora hosted the distinction ceremony on Friday, April 17. Doctor Juan A. Casanova Claramonte was named favorite son, while historian Primitiu Garcia i Pascual received the title of adoptive son. Both recognitions highlight their careers and close relationship with the municipality.
“
"Today is a day of pride. Almassora pride. Because it is people, with their effort, commitment, and love for our town, who build the history of Almassora."
During the event, the mayor of Almassora highlighted the doctor's vocation for service, stating that he has been "much more than a doctor, because he has been trust, comfort, and hope for generations of Almassora residents." She also emphasized the historian's work in the research, conservation, and dissemination of local history, affirming that he "has contributed decisively to our better understanding of our roots and to the preservation of Almassora's memory."
“
"I have always thought that my profession was the most beautiful in the world, and my dedication to people has been my life's driving force. After so many years, this recognition confirms that I made the right decision when I began my professional activity in Almassora in the 80s."
For his part, Juan A. Casanova Claramonte expressed his gratitude for the distinction, while Primitiu Garcia i Pascual thanked the expressions of affection and recognition received. The historian underscored the importance of his work for Almassora society and recalled a reflection by the writer Prudenci Bertrana on the importance of proximity to people.
The ceremony was attended by numerous political, social, and cultural representatives from the municipality and was enlivened by musical performances from a string trio from the Mestre Agut Manrique Music School and the performance of the El Torrelló Cultural Association.
