Two workers have died in a construction accident that occurred at a building site in Benidorm, in the Marina Baixa region, when scaffolding collapsed, trapping them.

The incident took place in tower 2 of the Principado Europa building, an 18-story property located in the Levante area of Benidorm. Both operators were trapped under the debris of the collapsed scaffolding, as reported by the Generalitat's Emergency Information and Coordination Center.
Numerous emergency services personnel, including a SAMU ambulance, another Basic Life Support unit, and a dozen firefighters, were dispatched to the scene. The road remained closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic throughout this morning.
The accident happened after the work had already finished and the scaffolding was being placed vertically. The exact causes of the fatal collapse are being investigated to determine why the installation gave way.
