For four days, from April 2 to 5, the three towns in Marina Alta and Baixa hosted a sporting event that brought together over 700 players, belonging to nearly 70 teams from all over Spain. More than 145 matches were played across various categories, from U11 to youth.
At the regional level, the Club Voleibol Benissa played a prominent role, collaborating in the organization of the tournament and receiving support from the Benissa City Council. The Benissa club was represented by five teams: four female (U11, U13, U15, and youth) and one male U15 team, totaling over 60 local athletes.
Beyond the competition, the Mediterranean Volley Cup offered socialization and leisure activities. On Friday, April 3, Benissa hosted a special session for visiting families and athletes. The sporting closing ceremony took place on Sunday, April 5, at the Camilo Cano Sports City in La Nucia, with an “All-Star” match concluding the schedule.
This second edition represents a qualitative and quantitative leap in dimension. Seeing more than 700 young people enjoying themselves alongside their role models demonstrates that volleyball has a bright future.
The presence of international figures such as Rafa Pascual, a historical reference in Spanish volleyball, and María Segura, captain of the national team, as ambassadors, reinforced the educational nature of the event. The Mediterranean Volley Cup is the result of a collaboration between the agency QLSPORT and RP1, a project led by Rafa Pascual, prioritizing values such as respect and teamwork.
