Nine injured in multi-vehicle accident with fire on AP-7 near La Vila Joiosa

A collision involving four vehicles at kilometer 663 resulted in one car catching fire and nine people sustaining injuries, seven of whom were taken to hospitals.

Nine people were injured this Monday in a multi-vehicle accident on the AP-7 highway, at kilometer 663, within the municipality of La Vila Joiosa, where four vehicles were involved in a rear-end collision.

The incident caused one of the involved cars to catch fire, burning in one of the highway lanes and leading to a significant traffic jam. The Provincial Firefighters Consortium of Alicante received the alert at 7:22 AM and concluded their intervention at 9:42 AM.
Firefighters from the San Vicente station, including a command unit, a heavy urban pumper, a sergeant, a corporal, and four firefighters, were dispatched to the scene. The Information and Coordination Center for Emergencies (CICU) mobilized a SAMU unit, two Basic Life Support units, and a conventional ambulance.
Medical services attended to nine injured individuals: seven men aged between 23 and 60, and two women aged 49 and 61. Seven of these injured were transported to the Marina Baixa Hospital in La Vila Joiosa and the IMED Clinic in Benidorm. The other two individuals sought medical attention on their own. They generally presented with bruises and whiplash.
