The Paiporta City Council will allocate 1.8 million euros, granted by the Ministry for Ecological Transition, to a new aid program for installing anti-flood barriers in homes, shops, and businesses within the municipality, one of the areas most affected by the 2024 DANA storm.

The subsidies will be aimed at financing actions that reduce vulnerability to flood events, under Royal Decree-Law 6/2024, targeting municipalities affected by the DANA and located in areas with significant flood risk.
Planned actions include the installation or acquisition of water protection and evacuation elements, adaptation and improvement works on buildings and infrastructure, as well as risk planning and management measures such as municipal plans, alert systems, or civil protection actions.
The aid program also includes interventions in infrastructure and communication routes to adapt them to flood risk, as well as the acquisition of land or buildings in affected areas for safe use.
The council is already working on preparing these subsidies after the Ministry published the new decree. The process of drafting the regulatory bases has begun so that residents of Paiporta can access this aid. The City Council is moving forward while the Miteco studies the creation of standard bases to streamline calls for applications.
This aid line had already been announced in forums and participation events held in recent months, such as the presentation of the plan by the Confederation Hydrographic of the Júcar (CHJ) or participatory workshops organized in Paiporta, where the intention to implement protection measures was communicated.
The Paiporta City Council has prioritized offering residents all possible support and subsidy lines to improve safety and protection against floods. These measures are linked to other initiatives promoted in the municipality, such as the establishment of an emergency office or the organization of workshops with citizens.
