On April 24, the La Vila Joiosa City Council will present the book La Vila Gastronòmica. Cuina i amor al poble dels colors, a work celebrating 25 years of the local gastronomic brand.

The publication, written by journalist and gastronomic popularizer Ángeles Ruiz García, is part of the La Vila Gastronómica 2026 program. This book offers a sensory and documentary journey through the culinary identity of the municipality, highlighting its seafaring tradition, its close link with the sea, and the role of the chocolate industry in shaping its cuisine.
The author, who currently works at the Gasterra UA-Dénia Mediterranean Gastronomy Center and coordinates the Carmencita Chair of Gastronomic Flavor Studies at the University of Alicante (UA), promotes research and dissemination initiatives related to Mediterranean gastronomic heritage.
The work also includes a tribute to Carlos Llorca Baus, a key figure in promoting La Vila Gastronómica, through a selection of poems that enrich the book's content. The presentation event, which will take place in the Salón Don Pedro de La Barbera, will feature the participation of various personalities, including a professor from the University of Alicante, the mayor of La Vila Joiosa, the president of the Provincial Association of Tourism Journalists and Writers (APPA), and the author herself.
The presentation will include a musical performance and the reading of some poetic fragments. Edited with the support of the La Vila Joiosa City Council and Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, the publication is part of a set of gastronomic initiatives that, for more than two decades, have boosted local tourism and economy, such as the Mostra de Cuina Marinera, Xocolatíssima, G de Tapas, or the Pebrereta Contest.
