The ceremony took place at the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences, bringing together representatives from academia and the business sector. These awards aim to highlight research on current industry challenges, such as digitalization, sustainability, and governance in tourist destinations.
During the event, the importance of connecting academic knowledge with the reality experienced by cities like Benidorm was emphasized. The awarded papers addressed key issues such as international competitiveness, the tourist experience, and multiculturalism, offering a contemporary analysis for public policy decision-making.
“"The awarded papers reflect very well the great challenges and current debates of the sector, offering a deeply contemporary perspective linked to the reality we live every day in tourist destinations like Benidorm."
The authors of the seven winning papers will have the opportunity to present their conclusions at the BeCiti hub in Benidorm during a future working session. This initiative seeks to strengthen the chair's role as a strategic bridge between the university and the productive sector.
The Pedro Zaragoza Orts Chair of Tourism Studies integrates the collaboration of various entities, including the University of Alicante, the Benidorm City Council, Visit Benidorm, the Alicante Provincial Council, the Costa Blanca Tourism Board, Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, Invattur, and the business association Hosbec.
