The socialist municipal group in Callosa d'en Sarrià will demand explanations from the mayor after gaining access to an official analysis from the National Consumption Water Information System (SINAC), which classifies the municipal supply water as "unfit for consumption." The socialists are making this request public after Mayor Andrés Molina announced on Friday that the water was once again safe to drink.
According to the consulted documentation, the sample was taken on May 29, while residents were not officially informed of this situation until June 9, when the Mayor's office issued a notice about the water problem. Twelve days passed between these two dates without the public being aware of this analysis.
The PSOE considers it particularly concerning that the socialist municipal group specifically inquired about the water situation during a council meeting held on May 28, just one day before the sample was taken, which later resulted in the classification of the water as unfit for consumption. Therefore, the socialists question what information the governing team had at that time and why more complete and transparent information was not provided to residents.
Furthermore, they report that, to date, the specific causes that originated this problem and the actions taken from the outset to resolve it have not been publicly explained. "We are talking about an issue that directly affects public health and the trust of our residents. Transparency should have been absolute from the very beginning," state the socialist municipal group.
In light of this situation, the PSOE of Callosa d'en Sarrià has announced that it will request explanations at the next ordinary council meeting, scheduled for June 23 at 10:30 AM, at the Casa de Cultura. There, they will question the mayor about the timeline of events, the analyses conducted, the decisions made, and the causes that led to this situation.
Additionally, the socialists demand the publication of all analyses conducted since the beginning of the incidents; a detailed technical report on the causes that led to the declaration of water unfit for consumption; a complete timeline of the actions carried out by the City Council; and maximum transparency in all information related to the drinking water supply.
For the socialist municipal group, residents deserve to know the full truth about what happened and have all the necessary information to assess the municipal government's management. "On May 28, we asked in council. On May 29, an analysis was performed declaring the water unfit for consumption. On June 9, the population was informed via a notice. These are facts that require explanations, and we will publicly request them at the next municipal council meeting."
