Benidorm to have 117 public homes, 40% for youth and single-parent families

The new Plan Viu housing development by the Generalitat Valenciana in Benidorm will allocate a significant portion to groups facing housing access difficulties.

The Generalitat Valenciana has launched a new development of 117 public homes in Benidorm, of which 40% will be reserved for young people and single-parent families, to facilitate access to housing.

This initiative, framed within the Plan Viu, seeks to address the need for affordable housing for groups that face greater difficulties in achieving independence or developing a life project. The development, which includes garages and storage rooms, will be offered under a social rental scheme.
The construction of this development, located in a privileged and expanding area of Benidorm, was visited by representatives from the Generalitat and the City Council. It was highlighted that the works are progressing at a good pace and are expected to be completed by the summer of 2027.

The initial project envisioned 91 homes but was modified to add 26 more apartments, reaching the current 117. The flats will be distributed over ten floors and each will have a parking space and storage room. In addition to the 47 homes for young people and single-parent families, there will be adapted flats for people with functional diversity.
The Generalitat will invest over 10 million euros in this development, which also benefits from NextGeneration European funding, due to the incorporation of energy efficiency criteria. This is the first public housing development of its kind in Benidorm in almost 20 years.
Furthermore, the launch of a new Plan Viu website has been announced, a digital platform that will centralize information on protected housing offers and the registration process to access developments. This tool will enhance transparency and public control over housing.

The application process for these homes is not yet open. It is anticipated that the deadline will be activated shortly before the works are completed, as these are rental properties and not for sale. The Generalitat will provide all information once the procedure opens.
