The Urban Interest Group (AIU) representing the majority of property owners in the Ensanche Levante sector of Benidorm has registered the new urbanization project with the city council. The document sets a base tender budget of 74,214,465.93 euros and establishes an execution period of 58 months from the start of construction, as detailed by the Councilor for Urban Planning, Lourdes Caselles.
By the end of June, the second public exhibition period for the project will conclude. It includes two key actions: the duplication of the Line 1 pumping main to the Benidorm WWTP and the medium-voltage connection to the Montebello substation, located in the municipality of La Nucía.
The action concerning the duplication of the Benidorm–WWTP pumping line involves a 3.6-kilometer conduit with a base tender budget of 9,087,058.17 euros. Meanwhile, the Armanello–Montebello medium-voltage connection, necessary to supply power to the partial plan, will have a length of 8,316 meters and a budget of 3,118,446.14 euros.
In addition to these infrastructures, Caselles highlighted the creation of a large central green area that will structure the sector into blocks and house the planned municipal facilities. She also noted that road layouts have been modified to avoid the demolition of existing buildings.
The Ensanche Levante sector covers a total area of 575,371.20 square meters, of which 171,210.05 will be allocated to roads and 97,791.11 to green spaces. The project reserves three plots for the construction of 600 protected housing units, while the remainder will be designated for tourist-hotel or residential use in open-plan buildings, maintaining Benidorm's model of high-rise construction, with a minimum height of twenty stories.
