The Local Government Board of the Benidorm City Council has formalized the contract award for the installation of electric charging infrastructure. The initial estimated value of the contract was 106,618.55 euros, but it was finally awarded for 96,576.05 euros after the analysis of the submitted offers.
This project is part of the Sustainable Tourism Plan in Destination, specifically Action 12 ‘Benidorm Vision 360’. The initiative is funded by European Next GenerationEU funds and is associated with the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, within the framework of the Sustainable Tourism Plan in Destinations.
The two electric vehicle charging points will have a total power of 80 kW and will be equipped with two CCS Combo 2 (FF) type sockets. The configuration will allow rapid and semi-rapid charging of up to four electric vehicles simultaneously. Their location will be on Juan Fuster Zaragoza Avenue, at the height of the Rincón de Loix Administrative Extension, and on Filipinas Avenue at its confluence with Gerona Street. The execution period for the works will be three months from the signing of the staking out certificate.
“"The installation of electric vehicle charging points is one of the actions contemplated in Benidorm's Electric Mobility Plan (MOVELE)."
The Mobility Councilor highlighted that Benidorm's Electric Mobility Plan (MOVELE), approved in plenary on December 26, 2022, is the strategic document that integrates the various sustainable development plans of the municipality. Among the plan's objectives are increasing the penetration of electric vehicles in municipal and business fleets, creating optimal charging infrastructure, and achieving a minimum penetration of 2.5% of electric vehicles in new municipal fleet registrations.
The execution of this project will allow the expansion and improvement of municipal charging infrastructure, the promotion of electric mobility, the reduction of emissions associated with transport, the improvement of energy efficiency, and the increase in Benidorm's tourism competitiveness as a destination committed to sustainability and energy transition.
