The Local Police of Xàbia has decided to act forcefully to end illegal parking on Benissero beach, along the Primer Muntanyar coastline. Officers have sealed the small gaps in the barrier that some drivers used to sneak their vehicles in and park on the very front line of the sea, a practice that is completely prohibited.
This situation, which had already been reported, showed how drivers, many of them customers of local leisure establishments, ignored regulations and parked in unauthorized places. The presence of these vehicles not only violated the law but also encroached on the pedestrian lane of Primer Muntanyar, endangering the safety of passers-by.
The seals have been placed at access points near establishments such as Montgó di Bongo and la Siesta. This action is part of a continuous effort to free the coastline's front line from vehicles, an initiative that has had the collaboration of the Alicante Coast Service.
In the past, measures such as the installation of barriers had already been taken to prevent car access to the coast. Furthermore, the Ministry for Ecological Transition has carried out regeneration work on a significant stretch of Primer Muntanyar, creating a coastal path. Costas has also urged the town council to close an illegal parking area that had been maintained next to the mouth of the Gorgos river, half of which was already closed a few months ago.
Meanwhile, pedestrian use of this coast continues to grow. The town council transformed one of the two road lanes into a pedestrian promenade, and there is also a bike lane on the sidewalk. The goal is for this coastline to become a fully pedestrian area, but until that moment arrives, the Local Police must continue to act firmly to ensure compliance with regulations.
